NORFOLK – The Town of Norfolk will be flushing the fire hydrant system Wednesday and Thursday (June 10th and 11th). Periodic flushing of the fire hydrant system is an important preventative maintenance activity. It flushes sediments from the water main pipes thus enhancing water quality, verifies that hydrants are working properly so that ample water flow is available to firefighting needs and aids in determining weaknesses in water pipes, fittings and valves.
Flushing may cause the water to be discolored, if this happens, run cold tap water until the water runs clear.
